Question:
I run the insurance dept at work that covers the insurances for all the nursing homes we manage, and deal a lot with a specific brokerage company for most of our work. I have had a hard year working with them as they are new to our company so I had to instruct them what our needs and expectations are and have to have them make a lot of corrections for us. 2 of the higher workers at the company just sent me a silver honey dish for YT. I saw online it cost a few hundred dollars. Is this considered bribery- (perhaps I will try to be more patient with them…..) or can I accept it as a thank you gift or a peace offering gift?
Answer:
Hello,
Unless the want you to do something you shouldn’t, you can accept the gift from them, and it is not included in the prohibition not to give bribes. As this only applies to a judge and not to a customer. You can accept it, and they are very smart for giving it to you, as it will cause you to be more patient with them, which is good. It is always good to keep on good terms with your customers, and all of Klal Yisroel should have a good Yom Tov and a Kesiva Vchasima Ttova
Best wishes
