Question:
Good Erev Shabbos,
My wife put a huge chicken pot (not positive how hot, presumably hot) on the bottom shelf of a fridge to cool off for a few hours. We noticed some residue on the bottom shelf of the fridge that wipes off (and some might have gotten on the bottom of the pot). We plan to clean off the bottom of the pot before reheating the chicken soup. We're not sure what the residue is from. If the residue is milchig, is there going to be an issue with the pot? (Since we're unsure is it more lenient?)
Answer:
Hello,
Understandably, one should check before putting the pot down, that the area is clean, however post facto, the pot is still kosher, and it should be wiped off well. One of the reasons is because even if I was milchig, it would be botil.
Best wishes
