Question:
Is it permissible to read from another place in the parsha on a Monday and Thursday? I work in a liberal day school and sometimes a Bar mitzvah student has learned verses from elsewhere in the parsha than the first aliyah.
Is it halachically permissible for the Bar Mitzvah student to read from another place in that week's parsha? Are people still יוצא for Torah Reading? If yes, it is permissible what are the parameters?

Essentially it is not permissible, being that we are meant to read from the beginning of the parsha, and not from somewhere in the middle. There is controversy among to poskim in retrospect, if it was already done, if we have to go back and read it again or not. No one says that it may be done this way premeditated. I would advise you to speak to the boys in advance, one by one, and find out what they are preparing, so that you can let hm know to study the proper part, so that this issue doesn’t continue
