Oat Batter Bread

Question:

Hi,
I recently asked the Rabbi about making a Hamotzee brocha on my oat bread made using oats and water. Is it still Hamotzee if I have to use a lot of water when baking the bread? I have to use a large amount of water for it to bake properly and it resembles a batter. As it bakes in the oven, it becomes a solid roll of bread.

Thank you so much!

Answer:

Hello,

The bracha is still Hamotzei, even though it was a batter when you mixed it, being that it is right now a regular roll. If you make a shiur of challah, don’t separate challah until after it is baked, being that it is only a batter when it was made.

Best wishes
