Dairy strainer in treif sink

Question:

We have a porcelain (non kosher) sink, so we use inserts (one meat and one dairy) whenever we use the sink. The sink was used for meat within the past 24 hours (washed meaty dishes with plenty of grease in very hot water before adding soap) but was now cold and clean. Someone put a dairy colander directly in the sink (no insert) and proceeded to pour a pot of boiling water and pasta through it to drain the pasta. What's the story with the colander and the pasta?

Answer:

Hello,

If the insert was inserted while the sink was used for the meat, that would make the sink a kli sheini (or shleishi), and in retrospect, it would not made the colander nor the pasta trief.

Best wishes
