Question:
Shalom,
My kids come home with tests on the parasha or nach, do I need to put them in actual geniza? Or can I double wrap and dispose?
Same for parsha sheets and similar
Thank you,
Answer:
Hello,
They should be put into actual geneiza, because it has Torah or Nach on it. This is especially true if the child wrote Torah or answered nach questions on the page. What was written there was not merely printed by an innate machine that didn’t have any intention for Torah, however these pares were written in a Torah context. This is unfortunately a common mistake that I notice by many seminary girls, that they think that the torah notes, (Halacha classes, Torah and Nach notes), that they aren’t kadosh, because it is only what I wrote. This is a big mistake, the Torah that a child writes, when the child write’s "תורה צוה לנו משה" is as holy as when the Rambam or Vilna Gaon writes it. It is kaddosh not because they wrote it, rather because it is part of Hashem’s holy Torah, and when we write torah it is no less holy!
As a side point, by treating the child’s Torah in a respectable way, it teaches the child, that his torah is valuable.
Best wishes
