Dairy Soup in Meat Bowls

Question:

If I accidentally served a dairy soup in meat china bowls, what is the status of the bowls? The soup was very dairy, but the bowl is a Kli Sheini, possibly a Kli Shlishi depending on how we look at the ladle. Can we be lenient because there isn't really a way to Kasher the china?

Answer:

Hello,

AAS you write it depends on how "hot" the lade was and if it got a status of a kli rishon or not. If it was in the hot pot for a while, or while the pot was on the fire, then it has the status of a kli rishon, and the bowl would then be iruy kli rishon, and it can't be kashered. However if the ladle was only in the pot while it was off the fire, and only for a short amount of time, then the bowl would be a iruy kli sheini and permitted to use.

Best wishes
