Is the concept of a helping hand in any way a jewish ideal?
I know things seem to be a should have for better prosperity. I took care to be known as an assisting hand in my motto of fraternity.
Could this be why Hashem holds me back?

Hello,
What they are calling a helping hand we call chesed. That is a Jewish concept, and a mitva to do chesed to others. This is not a reason for a punishment rather a reason for reward.
