Question:
I will be staying at a hotel for one day and night of chol hamoed. There is a kitchenette in the hotel suite, which contains a fridge, microwave, dishes, and stove top ( I think a glass stovetop). All the dishes etc. are treif. Do I need to do a bedikah in the room? Do I need to tape up the cabinets or microwave or sink etc? If there is a coffeemaker and packets of condiments (salt, sugar, tea, coffee...), do I need to put them away somewhere? Thank you
Answer:
Hello,
You would have to do a bedika with a bracha, when you get to the hotel, as it is now in your possession and it wasn't checked for chometz. Anything that it related to chometz, and you don't want to use should be covered, with a covering and tape, to ensure that you won't accidentally come to use it. However the sugar, and other condiments that don't need kosher for Passover supervision, and may be used on Pesach do not have to be covered.
Best wishes
