Eating from hamotzi

Question:

Is it required to specifically eat from the 2 whole challos or 2 whole matzos that one recites the brocho on, or, after the brocho one may eat from bread or matzoh which is not whole.

One reason would be where there might not be enough shlaimos for all the meals.

Answer:

Hello,

Yes. One should eat specifically from the whole bread that one said the bracha over it. See Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim 274-1, that we make the bracha over two loaves, and then cut one of them. Additionally see Rema Orach Chaim 482, regarding what to do when a person only has 3 whole matzos on Pesach, what he shuld do for the two nights.

Best wishes
