Niddah and labor

Question:

At what point in labor does a woman become niddah?

Answer:

There are three, main symptoms that would render a woman a niddah during labor. Either she starts to bleed, if she isn’t able to walk on her own, or if she is on the birthing bed. There is discussion among the poskim, regarding the mucous plug, the waters breaking, and if she is dilated significantly when she becomes a nida. This should be discussed with your Rov. Additionally, often when the doctor of midwife will check her, the glove should be looked at, to see if there is any blood on it.
