Haftorah Scroll

Question:

Can a non-Jew participate is writing a Haftorah Scroll if a Sofer is holding/guiding their hand.

Answer:

A non-Jew should not write the letters of a Haftora, the same way he should not write a letter in a sefer Torah. The same way a child, or a woman, may not write in a sefer Torah. The reason is because a sefer torah etc., are only kosher when written by someone who is commanded to put on Tefillin. Being that all three are not commanded to put on Tefillin, they may not write Tefillin mezuzos or a sefer Torah. What you can do in this situation, is to have the non-Jew hold the arm of the sofer while he is writing the letter. This way he feels honored, and the letter was essentially written by the sofer.
