Question:
Can maaser money be used to pay for the mohel and seuda of a grandchild's bris? The parents are a kollel couple who did not have the means to pay for these expenses themselves. The grandparents are not of much means either, but took it upon themselves to offer paying for these things when it was obvious that the couple could not. Additionally, can grandparents deduct maaser money for baby expenses (basic furniture and clothing) needed by the young couple? Same situation, where the couple could not afford these things, and the grandparents are rather limited financially as well.
Answer:
Mazal Tov.
It is permitted to use your maaser money if you are not otherwise obligated to pay for it, and the couple doesn’t have enough money for their expenses.
Best wishes
