Question:
I made a shehakol on some bubble gum at home. Then I left my house to go on errands. On the way I stopped in an ice cream shop and got a milkshake. Do I make a new shehakol on the milkshake?
Thank you so much.
Answer:
Hello,
Yes, you have to make another bracha on the milkshake. This is because on foods that we say borei nefashos, if we leave the house we were in, it is considered a hefsek due to our changing places, and we need to say a new bracha. In fact, even if you will take another piece of gum, outside your house you will make another bracha on it. Since leaving your house is considered ending the first “eating”, therefore a new bracha is required.
Best wishes

Is the same true if you continued chewing the piece of gum as you left your house and only stopped in order to have the milkshake?
Yes. In fact there are differant opinons regarding a new bracha on the gum itself, (if it would still have taste..)
