Question:
I have the same situation as https://dinonline.org/2022/04/04/moldy-challah (I probably put "challah" dough in the freezer and it seems to have gotten moldy but I am not sure.)
It seems that my 5 year old and his friend found it in a freezer and opened it and may have eaten some. I feel so bad that my son (and his friend!!) may have eaten davar assur. What teshuva so I need to do and should I consider this that my mistake has negatively affected their ruchniyus? Any help you could give us would be much appreciated.
Answer:
Hello,
You don't know for sure that they ate it, however on the assumption that they indeed did, I would suggest that aside for the regular teshuva, that you should change the was you take of your challah. In stead of storing it in the freezer, which can cause problems, put the challah into a plastic bag, and respectfully put in in the garbage. This way such a mistake won't repeat itself.
Best wishes
