It depends on the age of the child. Children below the age of chinuch regarding the Churban, age 7-8, they may go in the pool. However, children that have reached the age of chinuch should not be swimming. If there is a need for them to wash themselves, they should take a quick shower, but not a prolonged stay in the bath or pool. As a side point, after the shower or bath, if they put their clothes on without drying themselves, they will stay cool for longer.
