Avoiding a problem of bosis by a full garbage can

Question:

I know that if a garbage can contains garbage before shabbos, the garbage can will become a bosis. To avoid this, can one place a can of food (that one does not necessarily intend to use on Shabbos) on the bottom of the garbage can? The idea would be that even if there is garbage in the garbage bag when Shabbos begins, the garbage can would be a bosis to a davur mutar and davar Assur and so the garbage can wouldn't become muktzah. If this is allowed, then when one removes a full garbage bag from the garbage can on Shabbos, would this be a problem of borer? I.e. would the can of food on the bottom of the garbage can and the garbage bag containing garbage that is resting on top of the can be considered a ta'aroves, and so would be a problem of borer?

Answer:

Hello,

The garbage bag and the can are one on top of each other, and large, therefore they are not considered a ta'aroves.

Best wishes
