Nach Question

Question:

Shalom. How was Yechezkel HaNavi able to revive the dry bones (Yechezkel, Perek 37) if he himself was a Cohen and unable to Metamei himself?

Answer:

Hello,

See Rashi (Yechezkel 37-2) who says that Yechezkel didn’t go into the field, specifically because he was a Kohen.

But even if you will say that he did. You can really ask the same question on Eliyahu Havani, how did he do techiyas hameisim on the sone of the Tzorfatis,  because he was also a Kohen? The Chanukas Hatorah ( Likutim on Yechezkel 181) says that being the both of them knew that they would surely revive the dead person, they were allowed to make themselves tamei because it was pikuch nefesh, (to save a life) and a kohen can make himself tameh for that! (Also see Rosh Dovid (Chida)  Shoftim pg. 560, who answers something similar to this.

Best wishes
