Question:

I found a hairbrush by the entrance to a shul over a year ago. I do not know if it has a siman (does the color of the hairbrush and/or the brandname count for a siman?). I posted one time to the neighborhood email/chat that I found a hairbrush but no one responded. We moved to a different state shortly afterwards and by now the hairbrush I found got mixed in with our family's hairbrushes (we had the same exact hairbrush in our house). What is the next step for me to take regarding this matter? Thanks

Answer:

Hello,

It is possible that the brush doesn’t have a siman, but even if it does, at this point, advertising it will be useless, because the person most probably doesn’t remember about it anymore, plus that it isn’t such a valuable item. The only option at this point, would be to write down the specifics of what you found, where it was found, it’s basic value, and identifying aspects of the item, on a paper of on your computer. Keep this paper for posterity, and IY”H when Moshiach comes, you will be able to reimburse the value of what you found and used, to its rightful owner.

Best wishes
