Could I use heating pad or white noise on Shabbos and Yom Tov

Question:

I have chronic pain as well as other issues (seizures, IIH, vision loss, asthma, arrythmia, anxiety, depression, PTSD) over the past 20 years I have struggled up and down with suicidality. Over the past year when my seizures got bad again I became much more suicidality. I have made atleast 30-50 attempts over the past year. I'm on a pattern of one every three days and I don't seem able to stop. I don't want people who know me to know because I have a history with child protection because of my medical history and a false arrest. I am always worried of being reported on. I am trying to find supports but continously struggling. I have foudn a way of checking out without self-harm but it includes heating pad and brown noise both of which are mooktza.

Answer:

Hello,

Assuming that they are turning on before Shabbos, they may be used, because both of them are not worse than a kil shmilachto l’issur, which may be moved for a permitted use.
