Sleeping outside the succah

Question:

I am the type of person that needs my nice warm cozy full size bed and warm environment to have a good night's sleep. I don't sleep well on a bed cot or small bed and definitely outdoors where it is gets cold during this time of year. Is there any heter for me to sleep inside? I know that tashmish is patur, what about chizuk v'nishuk - is that a patur to sleep inside?

Answer:

Hello,

Everyone is more comfortable in their own cozy bed then outside, the same is when eating the meal on your large dining room table then on a small table in the succah. This is not enough reason to be considered mitztaer. If however it is too cold for you to sleep even with blankets. then you would be mitztaer. As a side point, the succah, has a degree of Hashem's presence inside it, and when we are in the succah, we should picture in our mind that we have very important guest, and we are leaving our home to spend some quality time with the guest. This should help somewhat, with the feeling of not be as comfortable as usual in the succah.

Have a good Yom Tov
