time sensitive = hefsek tahara

Question:

BH I have been married for years. However, when I do a bedika, I get concerned that I dont really reach all the crevices (this logically makes sense to me because there are so many and it is not possible to know if every spot was reached without spending too long). I have asked and was told that an "imperfect" bedika is okay as long as I was able to turn and wipe inside. However, does the same rule apply to a hefsek tahara? I did a hefsek and put my finger in and wiped around the walls but I would not think I got every spot. Thank you in advance.

Answer:

Hello,

When chazal told us how to make a bedika, (by inserting a finger inside as deep as you comfortably can, and going around slowly, while applying some pressure to flatten out the crevices) they understood that this is enough to make the bedika and the hefsek tahara work. Then we can assume that there was no more blood in the vagianl canal. Therefore if this is what you did, you have nothing to worry about, even if it was a hefsek tahara. As a side point, it is preferable to make the bedika with one foot raised on a chair etc., so you can get in and around easier.

Best wishes
