Havdala intent

Question:

Hi Rabbi,
If I was making havdala for my family and did not have explicit intent for them to be yotzei by hearing it, have I stopped them from fulfilling their obligation? I rarely make havdala for them, and it took place at home, so is there implied intent because there is no other reason I would making it besides for me and them to be yotzei?
Thank you

Answer:

Hello,

If you were all sitting around the table, etc. and it was understood that you are making Havdalah for everyone, even though you didn’t specifically have them in mind it is as if you did.

Best wishes
