Question:
Hello,
How do I give maaser on long-term investments? Can I look at the end of each tax year to see how much profit I ended up making that year on my investments, and then give maaser on whatever the amount is after taxes? Does it matter if let's say I end up with $50 after taxes but technically speaking the amount that I made was at one point more than that and then stocks fell and my account ended up being worth less?
Thank you in advance.
Answer:
When making a long term investment, you would calculate maaser after you redeem the investment. You would calculate 10% from the realized net profits.
