Question:
Dear Rav,
I know that non-Jews may study only the simple meaning of the Tanakh. A Noahide may study a commentary that explains the pshat of a verse if he doesn't understand it. But if he understands the verse and still wants to study its commentary, is that forbidden in this case?
I have noticed that sometimes, when one reads, for example, Rashi, even if the verse seems understood, the pshat according to Rashi is different and not so obvious. Thank you.
Answer:
As you wrote, a Noahide should not delve into the commentaries on Tanach. If he doesn’t understand the simple meaning, he can consult the commentaries to clarify it, but not go beyond that.
Have a good day
