Recently, my rabbi told me that the order of nail cutting for the fast is different from how I had always done it.
I used to cut the left thumb, then the index finger, then the middle finger, then the ring finger, and finally the pinky. Then I would move to the right hand, starting with the thumb and working up to the index finger.
I did not catch all the details, but it was explained to me to go to the third finger, then maybe the index finger, then maybe the pinky, and maybe end on the middle finger.
Is there a diagram we need to follow? It seems we are mixing up the order of the nails clipped.

The correct method for trimming our fingernails is to proceed from left to right, skipping fingers, and completing one hand before moving to the other. We begin with the left hand, starting with the ring finger, then the index, pinky, middle, and thumb. On the right hand, we also skip the first finger and alternate, starting with the index, then the ring, thumb, middle, and pinky.
