Question:
My wife had a dream that her teeth were falling out the other night. I’m concerned because I know it says in the Gemara in Brachos 56a that teeth falling out could symbolize that your sons and daughters will die Chas vShalom. We don’t have any children yet but BH my wife is 36.5 weeks pregnant. Is there anything we should do? Am I overthinking this?
Answer:
Hello,
First of all, we never say a "bad dream," but rather a scary one.
Aside from that, in general, nowadays we are not on the level of having such dreams, and you should not worry about it. Nevertheless, if you want to do things to allay your fears, here are some suggestions. The best thing is to hear birkas kohanim on that day and to say the tefillah, Ribon Haolamim, while the chazzan is saying the words Y'vorechicha, etc. If you don't finish in time, you can continue saying it until the chazzan reaches the end of the bracha hamevorech. Since you don't have birkas kohanim, you can say it while the chazzan is saying Elokeinu, etc. Additionally, keep in mind today say it on Yom Tov when they say birkas kohanim.
Another suggestion is to give tzedakah (instead of your wife fasting, since she can't because she is pregnant) equal to the amount of money you would have saved if she had been fasting.
Another idea is for her to say Tehillim, even just a few perakim, with the yehei ratzon that is said afterwards, as it is an all-inclusive tefillah.
May Hashem send you good news soon.
