Question:
I walked into a pizza store in an area that I don't often frequent to buy pizza. I saw 3 different size boxes on the wall, personal, large and extra large.
Being that I was alone, I went for the personal one as it seemed the size of about 2-2 1/2 slices. I even added mushrooms. The total: 24 shekel. Fair price.
They made it and handed me the medium sized box. I went to wash, made "al netilas yadayim", and sat down. I opened up the box and saw my "personal pie". It was barely bigger than a slice and filled only about 1/2 the box.
Since I had washed I made Hamotzei and took a bite.
I then made my way to the counter and angrily and showed him the pizza. "What is this?! I said, not so nicely. "You put in a tiny pizza into this box. You tricked me and I want either my money back or a steep discount".
"We didn't fool you", he said, "look". He pointed at the wall. I look at the boxes on the wall. "There is a circle drawn on the small box", he explained, "that shows the size of the pizza".
"How am I supposed to know that", I said, "I don't work here". "Well, what do you think the circle is for", he asked. "I don't know", I said, "maybe the same thing as the white paint stain on the box to the right of it. Do you put white paint on all the medium size pizzas"?
I asked him if anyone else ever complained about the same thing and he admitted that others had complained, but not so often. I told him that its not right what he is doing...
In the end he called the boss and they refunded me my money.
I'm just a little worried because he didn't see that I took a bite out of it and would like to know if I was in the right or should i return some or all of the money...
Thank you!
Answer:
Hello,
You don't have to worry, what you did was fine, firstly because it is very possible that the sale was a mekach taus, and additionally the boss agreed to refund the money to you.
Best wishes, and I hope you enjoy your next pizza

Thank you so much for the answer.
Why am I not obligated to pay for the bite I took since they can no longer sell the (mini) "pie".
