Nails in the nine days

Question:

I want to get my nails done for camp can I get them done during the 9 days

Answer:

Hello,

Without getting into whether doing one’s nails during this time is appropriate, halachically, cutting nails (which would include a manicure) during the week of Tisha B’av is controversial and should be avoided if possible. However, even during the Nine Days, if it isn’t the week of Tisha B’av, it is permitted. This year Tisha B’av is on Thursday, and although the Nine Days start on Wednesday the week before, you can still do your nails before Shabbos Chazon.

Best wishes
