I remembered after making a hamotzi beracha on challah that I did not have a hekker between my wife and me. Do I say bring a hekker, as maybe this would be like gvil leturi and not a hefsek, or can I eat one bite before saying it and it wouldn't be a problem of eating without a hekker, or is there any other solution?

Without talking out you can turn over a fork, or move a glass, and that will serve as you heker for now.
