Question:
Previously, I asked whether my son, whose bar mitzva is approaching, could wear his pull-ups with the fade when wet designs, since he's a bedwetter. The p'sak was to try different pull-ups, if possible. I went out and had him try 4 different brands. Based on his build and urination level, they weren't as good as the ones he usually uses (with the fade when wet designs). But with a diaper doubler, we found one that will do the trick and absorb properly without any leaks. That's what we will use for shabbos. But we want to know, is there an issue with wearing this absorbent pad inside the pull-up when going to our relatives' house a block away? What about wearing it back if it has been used (as he doesn't want any young cousins to find it and wants to throw it out back in our house)?
Secondly, with the diaper doubler, there's a diaper bulge in his pajama pants, which tends to make them sag (especially when it's wet), revealing the waistband of his pull-up. Being a 13-year-old bedwetter, he's self-conscious and has started to wear his briefs over the pull-up. It helps control the amount of sagging and, more importantly, when his pajama pants do sag, the cousins won't see a pull-up but rather underwear. Is there an issue with wearing this extra layer outside?
Answer:
Hello,
- It is permitted for him to go to your relative and back home with the pull-up and the insert inside it. There are two factors here. First, the insert is inside the pull-up and therefore considered part of it. Additionally, there is a factor of kavod habroiyos here.
- The extra layer is permitted because it is an article of clothing and does provide warmth, etc., even when worn one on top of the other.
Best wishes
