Question:
- If you mistakenly said Hagafen on an apple, are you Yotzei? If not, do you need to say "Baruch Shem" and/or say the bracha again, or just correct yourself? If you already finished the food, do you need to say Baruch Shem and the correct bracha again?
- What if you started to say "Borei Pri" on something that was shehakol and then caught yourself after you said the word "Pri"? If one wasn't sure of that and just said the word Haaitz and ate it, do they need to say the bracha again later? Does it matter how long later they do it? If they're full then, is it ok to say it later?
Answer:
- One is not yotze by saying Hagofen on an apple. So if you remember right after making the mistake, correct yourself. If it was already after "kdei dibur" (the amount of time it takes to say 3-4 words), then say Boruch Shem. If you already finished eating the apple, you no longer have anything on which to make the correct bracha.
- The rules for this question are basically the same as your first example. In the middle, or even right after saying the bracha, you can correct it. If you still haven't finished eating, you can still make the correct bracha. However, if you are full, stop eating and don't say the bracha.
