Selling Property in Israel

A Jewish man 60 years of age lives in the US. He has an apartment in Israel, but cannot come and take care of property due to health issues. Is it proper to sell this property, or does the Torah forbid us to sell property in Eretz hakodesh and buy property in foreign country?
Sincerely
J.

Answer:

It is permitted to sell the property for financial or other reasons.

Although there is a partial fulfillment of the mitzvah of settling the Land of Israel by owning property on the Land, and it is certainly a worthy thing to do for somebody who cannot live in the Land (see here for more details), there remains no formal prohibition to sell the property, and this can be done for legitimate reasons.

One should of course be careful to sell the property to a Jewish buyer.
