Rabbi Yosef Fleishman was raised in the Washington Heights section of New York City. He studied for many years in the United States and received his Semicha (yoreh yoreh) from the late Rav Yosef Breuer zt'l, Rav Shimon Schwab zt'l and the Novominsker Rebbi Shlit"a. (At the same time he studied at university and received a P.H.D in mathematics from the Belfer School of Science).
While learning in the Lakewood Kollel in Detroit, Rav Fleishman taught at Wayne State University where he developed a unique style in teaching his students. This style is one of clarity whereby even the most difficult point is made understandable. After that time he moved on to live in Yerushalayim.
Rav Fleishman continued his learning at the Mirrer Yeshiva and various other Kollelim where he concluded many sections of Shas, including the entire Even Hoezer, along with much of Zeroim including the Yerushalmi.
Seeking greater challenges Rav Fleishman became very close with the noted HaRav Naftali Nussbaum the head of the Beis Din of Ahavas Sholom in Yerushalayim. Under the guidance of HaRav Nussbaum, Rav Fleishman learned and received the Semicha of Yodin-Yodin (which is the certification of Choshen Mishpat).
From there Rav Fleishman became the Rosh Kollel of Kollel Choshen Mishpat in Yerushalayim. The Kollel is known for having one of the most intense Choshen Mishpat programs in the world. Rav Fleishman is constantly advising and directing businessmen and others from all over the world in their decisions regarding this area. The Kollel has a nine year cycle. A special program has been developed for those seeking knowledge in the area of CHOSHEN MISHPAT. The program is completely under the guidance of Rav Fleishman who takes even the most sophisticated and intricate problem and with his unique approach makes it understandable to all.
Upon completion of the program, the Semicha Candidates will come to Yerushalayim for their final exam where HaRav Fleishman conducts a Beis Din in awarding a special Semichas Chachamim in Choshen Mishpat designed specifically for this program, for those who are successful in their completion of the studies.
