WASHING AFTER ENTERING A BATHROOM

Question:

  1. Does one wash hands after entering a clean bathroom with a shower?
  2. If so, should one wash 3 times with a utensil?
  3. Is that water TUMAH?

Answer:

  1. My assumption is that you are asking when the person did not use the bathroom, but just entered it. It is questionable if our bathrooms are considered  a real bathroom that has a ruach tuma or not, because the refuse does not stay there and gets flushed out right away. If the bathroom is also a shower, there is more room to be lenient.  There is a preference to wash your hands after entering the our bathrooms, but there are poskim who say it isn’t needed. If you are washing your hands it is better to wash in a sink that is not in a bathroom. However if there isn’t another sink available, you can wash there, and dry your hands outside of the bathroom.
  2. There are different opinions if one has to wash his hands 3 times after using the bathroom, and the Mishna Berura seems to hold that it isn’t needed. If you only entered the bathroom, there is even more reason that it isn’t needed. It would seem that the same would apply to using a kli.
  3. The water is not tameh and you can drink it outside the bathroom. Please see the following post https://dinonline.org/2015/07/23/water-form-bathroom/
