Is it a problem to copy computer programs? I’m referring to computer graphics programs, Windows and Microsoft Office. (The graphics ones are very costly)

Many authorities maintain that copyrighted programs, which are protected under the law, may not be copied.
This can be because of principle ownership of copyright, but according to most it derives from other halachic principles, such as deriving benefit at another’s loss, the obligation to abide by the laws of the land, and others.
It remains hard to prohibit this outright in halacha, but in deference to many authorities who are stringent, one should not do so.
