Question:
Is it ok to use tzedaka to make change or to use the cash and then pay with a credit card? For example if I need 2 – 20 shekel bills and a 10 shekel coin, can I take from tzedaka and put in a 50 shekel bill. If I need 50 shekel cash, can I take the cash from the tzedaka box (not designated for any specific tzedaka) and then donate online the same sum money to a tzedaka with my credit card or is it wrong to use tzedaka for ‘other purposes’ ?

Hello,
It is permitted for you to change the tzedakah money, or even to borrow it, if it will not negatively affect your giving the poor people the tzedakah. This is even if it is for mundane purposes, as tzedakah is not like “hekdesh” (items given to the Bais Hamikdash) regarding this.
As a side point, after it was already given to the gabbai tzedakah it may only get borrowed if it will for the benefit of the poor.
