Invoicing for Another’s Deal

Dear Rabbi,

My wife has a business of doing services for businesses, she is just a broker, the job gets done by other freelancers and my wife ads a markup.

I have a job, I sometimes need to use my wife’s service, to make it simple for my wife, I deal with the freelancer direct, then my wife invoices the company where I work.

Am I allowed to do it?

Answer:

If you only got to the freelancers by means of your wife, meaning that you are in effect just “working for your wife” in going directly to the freelancers (but the deal can be related to your wife and her business), then this is fine.

If your knowledge of the freelancer and your ability to contact him is unrelated to your wife and her business, this cannot be done.

Best wishes.
