I am renting an apartment. If I put up my own Mezuzot, can I take them down with the termination of the rental?
Answer:
Mezuzos should not be taken down by the one leaving the apartment. The new tenant should remove them to put up his own mezuzot and return them to you. If he chooses to not to he, would be obligated to pay for the mezuzot. If you specifically want these mezuzot and the incoming tenant is not cooperative in this regard [non religious] you may replace these mezuzot with others.
