Using preserved lemon juice on Shabbos

Question:

Is preserved lemon juice mevushal re adding to hot tea on Shabbat? We bli neder avoid tea bags and use instant tea from England.

Answer:

Usually it is precooked and may be put into a kli sheini- (after the water has been put inside the tea cup).

  1. I’m trying to understand why there is any significance whether the lemon juice was precooked or not. Even if the juice was precooked, but being that it is a liquid that totally cooled down, the former bishul should have no further significance. Am I missing something?

    1. However regarding bishul in a kli sheini, a precooked liquid will not cook in a kli sheini as it would be considered koshei habishul. See M:B 318-23.
