My wife had a root canal and the dentist says that she would need a temporary crown for one week.
Question: Would that be considered as a חציצה for the ליל טבילה or not?
Answer:
This will not be a problem of chatzitzah.
It is better to leave the crown for a little more than a week.
Best wishes.
Sources:
Several sources mention that because the crown is there for purposes of refu'ah, and it cannot be taken out at will, it does not constitute a chatzitzah.
See Iggros Moshe (Yoreh De'ah 1:97); Sho'el U'Meishiv Tinyana 3:108; the Chelkas Yo'av writes that it must be present for more than a week to be permitted, and some are particular for this, which is why it should preferably be left in for more than seven days.
