Revelation before Shidduch

If a woman underwent a physically traumatic experience while unmarried that will affect her ability to be intimate with her spouse, is this information she is obligated to divulge to her future spouse prior marriage although she may feel that she is healthy due to therapy? if she decides not to divulge, can the husband claim mekach taos due to not divulging intimacy issues if he were to experience these issues in the marriage? Would there be a chiyuv kesuva in case of divorce?

Answer:

This is a difficult question to answer without knowing the case well.

In general, however, it is right to reveal this information before the Shidduch is sealed in stone. There is no need to reveal such a matter before the first date, but it should come up over the course of meetings.

An emotional trauma is similar to a physical ailment. Just as we would expect a spouse-to-be to reveal a previous serious illness, even if he or she has already recovered, so is the case for a serious emotional trauma that have a negative

I don’t think this will be sufficient for a “mekach ta’us.”

Best wishes.
