Biblical Haircuts

Peace be upon you.

Hello Rabbi,
I was wondering how I should cut my hair and beard based on the following passages:

Leviticus 19:27
Jeremiah 25:23
Jeremiah 49:32

I do not accept oral law as having authority.

Many thanks,

Hwey Kim

Answer:

Hi, you do not write in the question if you are Jewish or not. If you are not Jewish then the prohibition against destroying your beard or rounding off your sideburns would not be binding. According to Jewish tradition, Gentiles are obligated in the seven Noahide laws alone. If you are Jewish the basic rule being outlined in Leviticus is not to remove one’s beard with a blade i.e. razor. Electric shavers are permitted. The sideburns may not be removed even with a scissors,

I did not see any reference to haircuts in the above verses in Jeremiah.
