Is it a problem to talk on Shabbat near a phone (e.g., if one is walking in the street and a goy is talking on the phone, and you are walking near the goy, is it a problem to talk to someone, since it’s similar to talking into the phone)? Or if a non-religious family member is talking on the phone at home, is it assur to talk near them?
Answer:
As long as this is not your intent, and you are at a distance which your voice may not be picked up by the phone, there is no prohibition. If your voice will clearly be picked up, you should distance form the phone.
