Burning Leftover Chanuka Candles

On CHANNUKAH there’s an inyan to burn the left over oil or candles. Does it apply to Shabbos or yom tove or hAVDALLAH left over oil or candles as well? OR CAN SOMEONE JUST throw it in the garbage?

Answer:

Shabbos and Havdalah candles may be discarded. Because they were used for a mitzvah some have the custom to wrpa them in a bag before throwing in the trash. Only for Chanuka candles is there an inyan to burn them , as they are deemed similar to kodesh in this regard. Some explain that this is because they are a rememberance to the Menora of the Bais Hamikdash.
