Is there a list of banks that are not Jewish owned whereby it would be permissible to obtain a mortgage through them without some sort of heter iska. If the owners seem to have non-Jewish names can one assume it is not Jewish owned? Can we rely on Rov?
Answer:
In general banks are publicly owned and traded on the stock market. Therefore unless there are large shareholders that are Jewish we can assume with roiv that it is mostly owned by gentiles. I am not aware of any lists which state which banks are Jewish owned.
