On Chol Hamoed, should one avoid reading the news, especially about who died, due to the mitzvah of vesamachta b’hagecha? If so, why are the Jewish news sites still posting on Chol Hamoed? Is one obligated to refrain from reading, or is it merely a middas chassidus?
Answer:
It might be a nice idea for those that want to, and not unnesseasily make themselves sad by reading sad news, however it is not halacha, and we can’t say that they ae doing something wrong.
