Question:
Someone who has a catheter (a tube that is inserted into the bladder to drain it into a bag), is he allowed to move the bag? The bag is only changed when it is full (maybe a few times a day), and in the meantime as soon as some urine goes in it seems to be muktza. If so, the person wouldn’t be able to move around at all on Shabbos, because everywhere he goes he has to carry a partially full bag with him? And seemingly the heter of graf shel rei wouldn’t apply since he’s not moving the bag to dispose of it, rather just because he wants to move to another room and has to pull the bag with him. Obviously it is a big shaas hadchak to tell a person he can’t move from his place the whole Shabbos. Is there any room to be matir? Thank you

It is permitted. The tube and the bag are needed for the person’s health, therefore they are considered like his clothing and permitted. As a side point, it is even permitted for such a person to walk outside in the street with the catheter, however before leaving the house the bag should be emptied.
