Question:
I recently came across this poster: https://www.star-k.org/articles/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/KCChicken_Poster.pdf
My question regarding it: A few months ago, I noticed the chicken I was preparing had a greenish discoloration to it. Since it had a reliable hechsher (bdatz edah chareidis), I figured it was more of a health concern than a kashrus concern, so I used it anyway. Was I supposed to bring it to a Rav to be checked? Is there a concern that the chicken maybe wasn’t kosher?
Answer:
Hello,
It is not possible for me to know what you should have done, without knowing what it looked like. in general when one has a shailoh you ask a rov about it. In general though the hashgocho is supposed to take care of this, and such occurrences are very uncommon.
Best wishes
