Airline ticket

Question:

Is “hidden city ticketing” (meaning a passenger books a ticket for a flight with a connection at the intended destination, gets off at the stopover, and discards the remaining segment. which can be cheaper then Flights to the final destination.)allowed according to Halacha? it is against the terms and conditions of most airlines but to the best of my knowledge it is not illegal? seemingly its just מניעת הרוח but your not actually stealing

Answer:

Hello,

It depends on what is written in the contract, or in the airlines rules.

If it is written that the ticket is sold on the condition that it isn’t used in such a way, then when you bought it, you agreed to these conditions. However if it isn’t written in the contract, or the rules of the use of the ticket, then even though they are not happy about it, then it would be permitted.

Best wishes
